Pumpkin Patch

Tate had a wonderful time outside at the Pumpkin Patch. He did not care about the pumpkins, but he loved being outside. He is wearing his new big coat and the hat Aunt Dare & Uncle Al bought back from Switzerland.

6 month update

Oh goodness! It really has been 3 months since I put anything out here. Forgive me, but he keeps me busy..I simply lose track of time.

Tate is now 6 months old. He was at the pediatrician last week and weighs in at 15lbs. 14 1/2 ozs...he is going to be tall and skinny just like his father. He has tried out all the 1st baby foods and has determined he does not care for peas...I'm already sneaking them into his Sweet Potatoes. He can now hold his own bottle, eats in his highchair and sits up all by himself. He is now working to tackle crawling and today daycare told me he was practicing walking. He thinks he needs to keep up with all the other little ones at school.

3 month update

In the last month plus, we have been having quite an adventure with Tate. Oh where do I begin....

1. He had his 2 month shots at the beginning of July and we spent a few days dealing with vomit and messy diapers.
2. He is now rolling from back to stomach- even in the middle of diaper changes.
3. He can control his head and is thinking about sitting up. Just this morning he was leaning forward in his car seat.
4. He is grabbing onto things, including his pacifier. He can pull it out, but putting back is a different story.
5. He has almost completed his first week of day care and the teachers love him. He is calm and relaxed (just like his Daddy) which makes it even easier to take care of him.

I could go on and on about all the little things he is doing now...He is healthy, happy and keeping the 2 of us on our toes.

7 Weeks Old and Fighting Sleep

I'd recently been bragging about how well Tate was sleeping - 6 to 8 hours at night...well I spoke to soon. This week he has not wanted to sleep at night unless it was against me and he is sleeping even less during the day. He fights sleep during the day and then is so tired out by bed time that he can't be put down. Randy took the day off today to hang out with us and give me a little break. With him in class 3 nights a week, Tate and I are on are own and with the sleeping issues I was worn out.

But I do have to brag-Tate and I went to dinner with my sorority sisters on Tuesday night and he was a perfect gentleman. He entertained all the sisters and did not spit up on a single one of them.

6 weeks old

Tate is 6 weeks old this week and I am amazed at how quickly he is growing. He loves to be on the floor moving around..back is his preference but he's getting as much tummy time as we can give him. You'll see in the video I ttached that he is quite active.

Today is the first day he has been in the nursery in his crib for a nap. We've been keeping him downstairs in the Pack-N-Play since I am breastfeeding. After a few days of him getting adjusted to naps in his crib I'm going to aim to put him in his room at night. He's sleeping 6-8 hours at night so I usually get up with him between 3 & 5 for another feeding- just depends on when he goes down for the count in the evening. Most nights he has been going to bed by 10 giving Randy and I a little quiet time together before we call it a night.

A month old

Tate turned a month old yesterday and a very busy one it has been. He is already moving around his crib, found that he likes to sleep on his side and is already holding his head up. Tummy time has been very productive as he is already trying to turn over and he gets irritated after he spends some time trying to get to his toys with no luck. We have yet to try out the tub since he lost his umbilical cord - the goal is to give him his first bath this weekend.

Matthew Tate Jewett

Three weeks ago today, Matthew Tate Jewett arrived in this world by C- section after 24 hours of labor. He came out with a head full of hair and looks like a little image of Randy..with the dimple in the chin as well. I can say enough for the Doctors & Nurses at Rex Hospital for doing a great job taking care of us.

Randy and I have spent the last 3 weeks learning about our little guy and adjusting to the changes in our life. What a miracle to have such a beautiful and healthy child- I never imagined you could love someone so much.

In the past 3 weeks, we have had some sleepless nights, a learning curve on breastfeeding and lot of dirty diapers...of which I would not change a minute of it for anything. As of this morning, he still has his umbilical cord- just barely....and on Wednesday he goes back to the Dr for his well baby check.

And the count down continues...

Well we are just days away from the "official" due date- As official as it can be in the guessing game! The DR told me today that it seems like he is still content and is not ready to present himself to the world. We go back Friday if we are still pregnant- after that we will pick a date to induce thus maybe we will get to pick his birthday! HAHA! This child is definitely showing he is our child- STUBBORN!!! I'll keep you posted if things change.

In the count down stage......

I'm definitely not a week to week blogger, but I'll work on doing better...HAHA! With a new baby I am sure I will. Randy and I have finished our Preparing for Childbirth class and we are as ready as we can be for this new event in our life. Over the past week we have had 2 baby showers and I am thankful for my wonderful family and friends. Tate has everything he needs to join the world- only problem is that he seems content on staying right where he is right now. My next appointment is on the 20th so maybe we will have seen some progress by that time. I'll keep you posted as the big "day" approaches, but I'm not expecting his arrival to be timely. You know how stubborn both of us can be so I would not expect any less from him.

Week 35 and Counting.....

Sorry it has been awhile since I have posted, but things have been busy in our household. I think I always say that but it seems to be true lately. Randy and I have been attending Preparing for Childbirth classes and trying to enjoy time together before the big day. We have our last class this weekend- in which we learn how to care for a newborn. No worries- we are already diaper experts thanks to our nieces and nephews. I seem to be sprouting out further every day and am sure at some point I'm not going to be able to stand up without falling over (top heavy). I've posted a picture from the end of February and will post some new ones this weekend.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Our First Baby Shower & Grammie's Visit

Yesterday was our first shower and we were lucky to have such great friends. Baby J, now known as Tate, will be a well dressed young man with a number of toys and books to enjoy. It was a very nice shower thrown by Shannon and Marisha from work and we enjoyed games and wonderful food. We left with a car full of items that we are still working on putting away.

Grammie has been in town the last few days and was able to enjoy the shower with me. She also bought a few things herself for little man. He has some new adorable outfits and his high chair. We still have a few things to do before Grammie leaves- weather permitting of course. Be on the look out for new pictures of all the shower gifts, an updated picture of the nursery, and his going home outfit.

Busy Little Guy

Good morning all....Been quite a busy past couple of hours. Baby J is making it known that I will sleep when he wants me to. This morning at about 4:30 he decided to put some body part into my rib cage thus my sleep came to an end. Thought he preferred the evening to be active...then again maybe he wanted to make sure I was up for the consignment sale today. Going out looking for a few extras to have at Grammie's and Aunt Dare's since I am sure he will spend lots of time at both places. Hope everyone is well and if you are in the cold tundra of Vermont STAY WARM!!

Eventful January

Well January is almost come to an end- I can't believe the time is flying by so quickly. Things have been super busy here with the nursery and all the other re-organizing we are doing in preparation for the little guy. We go next week to check out a peditrician and have finalized on a day care (of which we may not need, depending on what happens with Randy's job). During my last posting I promised some pictures. The second is Baby J's foot- which indicates he is going to take after his Dad. The other is my favorite facial view; he has my nose and Daddy's chin.

Latest Doctor Visit

Today we had our last monthly visit to see the Doctor...we have moved into the every other week phase of appointments. We have a few new pictures of Baby J from this visit and I will get them posted over the weekend. He weighs in at approximately 2 pounds and 4 ounces which is slightly above average. All tests came back normal with the exception that my iron is low. Time for more leafy green veggies.....

Hope everyone is staying warm!

Just a quick update!!!

Things have been busy in this household over the last few weeks- so let me first say sorry about not doing a better job on staying in touch! The nursery is painted and we have the crib set up in the room. No animals on the wall yet, but that is the upcoming project for next week. I promise to post pictures soon. We have gotten a chair and ottoman to go in the room and will be setting up the book case soon as well. As for other stuff....well we have finished registering at both Target and Babies R Us and am now just working on trying to finish the rest of the arranging upstairs. Never imagined one little person could change so much, but he has. Hope everyone is having a great New Year! We will keep in touch...

A New Year's Update

With the holiday season coming to an end, life has began to get back to "normal"...well the most normal you can expect with all the changes going on in our lives. I went back to work on Monday as we are going into the swing of the busiest time of year for me- closing the books for the end of the year. Randy has had an extra week off and with that week he has gotten the nursery painted with a few minor touch ups to come. I'm not off again until Sunday, but am hoping to start putting some of the little guys stuff in the room. It is amazing how much stuff you end up with for one little person and we haven't even had any baby showers yet. But let's be honest- with Mommie, the Grammie's and Aunt Dare shopping we've already gotten him started on a nice wardrobe. It also doesn't hurt that my friend Rachel is lending us a few items as well.

Randy is finally able to feel Baby J moving around. I refer to it as the jungle gym approach- no idea what he is doing, but he is getting me on both sides. I imagine he is stretching or as I told Randy last night at the hocky game- using me for his punching bag.

Everything else is going well here- things are progressing slowly but steady on the nursery. Pictures will come soon promise!
